Alternative Provision
Attending traditional, mainstream schooling can be a real struggle for some learners. At Serendipity we offer high quality Alternative Provision for children and young people who may be facing difficulties such as:
-
School exclusion
-
Mental health needs
-
School phobia/school refusal
-
Bullying
-
Medical needs
-
Persistent truancy
-
Being a young carer
-
Special educational needs
-
Temporarily not having a school place, for example if they have moved to an area with no suitable school places or are an asylum seeker
-
We aim to create broad and varied ways for learners to engage with the curriculum. We could be grooming and measuring the horses, designing and building bug hotels and dens, making arts and crafts learning about nature and the environment, all based around the individual's learning goals.
We offer a free 45 minute taster session followed by a 10 hour initial assessment, split over several sessions, in which we can get to know the learner better in order to develop a tailored programme of learning, centring on the needs and interests of the individual.
We are happy to attend multi-agency meetings and we write reports at the end of each term to update on progress and development.
Sessions run Monday to Friday, in line with Somerset County Council Term Dates
