Referrals
Self Referral
If you would like to attend sessions, please contact us to discuss your needs. Together we can decide on the details such as the objectives, timing, dates, number of sessions, cost, and any extra requirements such as reports.
Health and Social Care Professionals
If you would like to refer a learner then following discussion with them, and with their consent, please contact us explaining the reasons for referral and source of funding for the sessions. We can then contact the client directly to assess their needs and to set up the sessions. With client consent we can write reports and liaise with you regarding the progress a learner makes during their sessions.
Schools and Colleges
If you would like to refer a learner for Equine Assisted Learning then following discussion with the learner and their parents/carers, and with their consent, please contact us to discuss the reasons for referral and funding for the sessions. We can then assess their needs and set up the sessions.
Our sessions are generally 1:1 and we aim for a minimum of 12 sessions as we feel it takes time to get to know the learner. Once they are relaxed and familiar with the setting, we can work with them and broaden the range of activities and learning opportunities.
We use a 10 hour initial assessment process over the first few sessions and feedback to the referrer after this to refine learning goals.
We welcome the opportunity during any programme to liaise with schools and parents/carers about the progress of any learner undertaking Equine Assisted Learning or to attend any relevant meetings. Staff from the school and parents/carers are welcome to attend the sessions as needed. A report outlining progress for each term will be produced at the end of the Spring, Summer and Autumn terms and sent to the referrer.
We are committed to safeguarding our learners and our Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy and Letter of Assurance can be also downloaded for the records of the referrer as required for Alternative Education Providers in Keeping Children Safe in Education (2021).
The referral pack including permission/consent forms must be completed and returned before sessions can start.
